Pleasing the Queen

How can she know that she’s on my mind?
I’ve only seen her in a magazine.
But does she know that I’m losin’ my mind?
I’m livin’ underwater in a dream.

How can this be?
I love it so much but it’s killin’ me.
She said good-bye.
Well I can tell by the way she looks at me.
What a fool am I
for thinkin’ I could please the queen tonight!
If she closed her eyes,
I could turn the page.

How can she look so deep in my eyes?
That paper goddess in a magazine.
Her wanton stare is so full of the lies
that make up everything that I believe.
She keeps me up in the middle of the night
intoxicating me as I’m drinkin’ her down.
If I was stronger I would put up a fight,
… intoxicating me as I’m breakin’ her down.

There is no way I can feel her
callous paper heart.
There is no way she can feel me.
Would she feel the pain?
There is no way I could steal her
callous paper heart.
There is no way
she can feel me.

How can this be?
I love it so much but it’s killin’ me.
She said good-bye.
Well I can tell by the way she looks at me.
What a fool am I
for thinkin’ I could please the queen tonight!
If she closed her eyes,
I could turn the page.

… and if I turn the page, I could burn the page.
